Written as the author was travelling through Britain, France, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Austria, and Germany, from 1869 to 1885. Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, and sixty-one plates, four of which are in colour. Collated, complete. Volume II illustrated with a colour frontispiece, and fifty-six plates, three of which are in colour. Collated, complete. Charlotte Schreiber, also known as Charlotte Guest, was an English aristocrat, best known for being the first publisher in modern print format of 'The Mabinogion'. Lady Charlotte Guest, later Lady Charlotte Schreiber, was an aristocrat, publisher and collector who travelled Europe with her second husband collecting porcelain and ceramics, which were upon her death left to the Victoria and Albert Museum. She was also the first publisher of the Mabinogion, the earliest British stories in prose. Lady Schreiber kept a diary for the majority of her life until blindness prevented her.The first edition of this work, in two volumes.Edited by the author's son, Montague Guest.With the ownership inscription of Jean Tsushima to the front endpaper.Volume I is illustrated with sixty plates, including four in colour; volume II is illustrated with fifty-six illustrations, including four in colour.
