'The Third Route' depicts Sassoon's own experiences in travelling on the 17,000-mile-long flying tour of British air stations overseas, visiting places including Egypt, India, Malta, the Sudan, and many others. Wonderfully illustrated throughout with twenty-four photographs and maps, one of which is folding, and brightly illustrated endpapers. Lacking the plate to page 128. Bound in the publisher's original cloth. Externally, sound with slight rubbing to the extremities. Slight bumping to extremities and head and tail of the spine, causing tears to spine ends and joints. Slight discolouration to the cloth. Bookplate remnants to the rear paste down. Published b y The Air League of the British Empire in 1935, this is the first softback printing of Sir Philip Sassoon, Captain Geoffrey De Haviland and Various Other Contributors' SOUVENIR OF EMPIRE AIR DAY: Saturday 25th May 1935 with a foreword by The Marquess of Londonderry. 96 pages, stapled cult pictorial soft card covers, wonderful atmospheric b/w illustrations/ photographs of famous aircraft and pioneering pilots throughout, the book is in good condition with some very minor tearing to the front card cover near the top staple which like its counterpart is a little rusted. The card covers do have a little edge creasing but are basically in very decent condition. The interior of the book is also very good and with several pencil annotations made by C Smith to the first few pages and full title page, this may even have been an even rarer pre-production souvenir. The book is delicate and extremely hard to come by, photographs are available on request.

Célibataire convoité, il était un hôte sensationnel et ses réceptions étaient recherchées de tous. Pendant la Première Guerre mondiale(de 1915 à 1918)Sassoon fut lesecrétaire particulier du maréchal Haig. Politicien, collectionneur d'artet mondainbritannique.

The book is a catalog for the exhibition of Old English silver work and other decorative objects, organized by Philip Sassoon in March of 1929, to benefit the Royal North Hospital in London. The catalog consists of a total of 880 individual items listed, ranging from the 14th-18th centuries, and a section of 81 b/w plates of photographic reproductions, illustrating many of the objects. These items were lent to the exhibition from a wide variety of private collection, including English nobility and aristocracy. Some pieces were from the Queen and the royal family. Preceding the plates section is a four page alphabetical index listing the originating collections of the objects. Binding with some light scratches, smudges, and water stains. Light bumping to extremities, including the top edge of the front cover. Interior with light age toning to the edges of some pages throughout. Book block tight. Binding in very good-, interior in very good+ condition overall.
