Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. No Jacket. First Edition. Two volumes bound in red cloth with titles and rules stamped in gilt. Corresponding 1924 dates to the title and copyright pages; no additional printings. Top edges gilt. Inscribed and signed by the author, dated Jan. 31, 1925, to fellow author Eugene McAuliffe, with McAuliffe's bookplates to the front pastedowns of both volumes. Pps xix, 1-475 (I); 476-959 plus index (II). In this forward-looking pre-crash work the author promotes a comprehensive program for a happy life through practical business management. Both volumes show only a touch of edgewear, with solid hinges and square bindings. Other than the authorial inscription, the books are unmarked. Eugene McAullife, the author of "Railway Fuel", was president of the Union Pacific Coal Company. His bookplate illustrates an ore tower with crossed picks, the border of which shows chunks of coal.
