Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. There's a subtitle: "A Symposium of Papers by Representative Citizens of the United States on the Relations between Japan and America and on the Common Interests of the Two Countries". I suppose that clears things up a little. What it is is an anthology of 50 or 60 essays by Americans published as a companion volume to "Japan to America" which contained - you guessed it - essays by Japanese citizens. There's a photographic portrait of the editor, with tissue guard, as frontispiece, and one further portrait. There's a bookplate on front pastedown and a name and date ("7/1/15") on front endpaper. (The name is Thomas Burke - not, unfortunately, the writer of that name!) The edges of the textblock are a little browned, but otherwise a near fine copy, very fresh and clean.
