TOME PREMIER [i.e. VOLUME ONE] ONLY. All text in French. Collates as [ffep], [title leaf], v-xxiv, 1-362, [rfep]. Hardcover: H 17.25cm x L 10.25cm. Modern re-binding featuring brown leather spine with bright gilt stamping, dark olive buckram cloth boards. Three small faint stains to front board. Red text block edges rubbed with color loss. New endpapers. Original title leaf has loss along fore-edge deepest at corners and now trimmed and reinforced by backing sheet. Antiquarian ink inscription on title page; two-line antiquarian ink notation (apparently by different hand) on page 362. Shallow fore-edge chips diminishing to nicks to pages v-xx. Some scattered soiling and a few spots of foxing to interior pages. Binding is tight with modern stitching evident at inner spine ends.
