Book First Edition
No Binding. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. First and only edition. Alexander Rodchenko. (1891 -1956) was one of the most many-sided Russian constructivist artists in the period between the two World Wars. In 1925 he was supervisor of the stand representing his country at the Great International Exhibition For Applied And Industrial Arts in Paris. It was the first time that the work of the Russian avant garde was shown in Western Europe. It made a marked impression. Part of the Russian exhibit was a small room furnished as a 'Workers' Club' (Rabochyi Klub). This first constructionist interior is described in a separate, illustrated booklet. There are drawings of some of the pieces of furniture so that these can be reconstructed. The most unique part of the interior was the chess table which constituted a unit with the chairs for the players and of which the board could be tilted. This edition has a fine paper model (1:7) of this design. With the model come chess pieces which enables one to play a game of mini-chess. 12 page booklet. 7 loose sheets including assembly/process directions. Contents are fine. Box is worn but closes. See photos.
