INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the front endpaper by the author-poet, who has also written three lines of verse (presumably his own) beneath his inscription. In addition to his poetry, Hagedorn (1882-1964) was a close friend of Theodore Roosevelt, and wrote several books about him and his family, in addition to serving as Secretary and Director of the Theodore Roosevelt Association from 1919 to 1957.
