First Edition, Limited to 500 numbered copies signed by the Author. An account of the English novelist's visit to the almshouses at Wood Green together with a short story and fable also written by Ridge and the text of the Prince of Wale's speech delivered to the annual dinner in 1909 of the Printers' Pension Corporation. Ridge's interest in social causes (he founded the Babies Home at Hoxton in 1907 and gave of his time and money to numerous charitable organizations especially ones devoted to child welfare) and his descriptions of London life and character in his novels have led to his being described as a successor to Charles Dickens.
