Fine. The photograph, 8 x 10 inches, is accompanied by Mrs. Reagan's printed card of presentation and White House envelopes for both the card and the photograph. Hewitt (1931-2003) had a long career in Washington, DC, first as a speech writer for John F. Kennedy and an assistant to U.N. Ambassador Adlai Stevenson, later as the driving force behind the reinvigoration of Ford's Theatre where she served as producing artistic director; on the day before her death, she received the National Humanities Award.

Swearingen and his wife, Bonnie Swearingen. (illustrator). Signed Photograph. Color photograph, measures 8" x 10". Stamped on verso as "Official White House Photograph," with associated code. Previously framed, with residual tape along top edge of verso, not impacting the image or signature. Signed on the border below the image, with the inscription by Nancy Reagan and signed "Ron" by President Reagan: "To Bonnie and John - With our best wishes, Nancy + Ron." From the estate of John E. Swearingen, the president of Standard Oil of Indiana and one of the most influential oil executives of the 20th century. When he became CEO in 1960, he deemed Indiana Standard Oil to be a "second-rate company." Through aggressive research and oil exploration, Indiana Standard quickly became one of the most profitable companies in the United States. Swearingen was vocal about his dislike for federal regulators, often supporting Republicans who shared his views on limited government. In retirement, he was a close friend of presidents Gerald R. Ford and Richard Nixon. Swearingen died in 2007, survived by his wife, Bonnie Swearingen, who passed away in 2020.

Bush, First Lady Nancy Reagan, Patrick Buchanan, Secretary of State George Shultz, and Chief Justice Warren E. Berger. Additional inscribed photograph from Secretary of Education, William Bennett. Includes Inaugural Programs from 1981 with invitations to the White House, inaugural schedules and White House Christmas Cards. A unique collection of Reagan Administration ephemera, all housed in black leather archival folio. Sue Mathis, later Sue Mathis-Richard, served in the White House Media Liaison Office beginning in 1981. After the shooting of Press Secretary Jim Brady, her office was reorganized, and the office of Media Relations was created. In 1984, Mathis become the Director of Media Relations. In 1987 she left the White House and assumed a position as corporate communications director for Walt Disney Corporation. In 1988, she was asked to join the Bush-Quayle campaign, serving as the Florida communications director.
