Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book describes the magnificent, elaborate, and deeply emotional public displays of mourning and grief that followed the untimely death of the beloved Queen Maria Amalia of Saxony, consort of King Carlos III of Spain, in 1760. The author provides a detailed, day-by-day account of the events, from the initial announcement of the Queen's death to the grand funeral procession and services held in her honor. The text also includes a wealth of historical context, exploring the broader cultural and political significance of the monarchy in 18th-century Spain. Through a profound examination of the public rituals of mourning, the author sheds light on the deep emotional bonds between the Spanish people and their royal family, as well as the complex social and political dynamics of the era.
