Seller: Main Street Fine Books & Mss, ABAA, Galena, IL, U.S.A.
Paperback. (Number 62). 8vo. Tan wrappers. 4pp. Near fine. Single installment of Powell and Rosenberg's monthly, casual annotated bibliography of worthwhile new books. This particular list of 19 titles includes John Beecher's "Report to the Stockholders & Other Poems," published by Beecher's Rampart Press. They describe him as "a lone figure operating within the ramparts of Barry Goldwater's stronghold" and this work as "Strongly felt, beautifully printed." This is the personal copy of JOHN BEECHER (1904-80), the noted social protest poet and fine press publisher. His wife, artist Barbara Beecher (b. 1925), neatly inks "See page 4" in red at the top of the front wrapper and boxes in the relevant paragraph on the fourth page. A nice association copy. A plug from Powell, UCLA's great bookhound, would have been quite an endorsement.
