He made fundamental contributions to combinatorics, number theory, numerical analysis and probability theory. He is also noted for his work in heuristics and mathematics education. For many years mathematicians visiting Stanford enjoyed guided tours through pages of the Polya photograph album, led by Polya himself. This is a selection of the photographs accompanied by remarks taken from tapes of Polya's conversations with his visitors.
