Hardback; quarter beige cloth over black paper-covered boards, dust jacket. Original photographic print (150 x 115mm) loosely inserted, with Godwin's stamp to verso and a pencil inscription from Godwin - 'Dear John & Yvonne [Skargon] / All best wishes for 1980 - & survival in the eighties And many thanks for the lovely design & printing of Elmet / Fay'. 127 pages. Black-and-white photographs throughout. English. 260x220mm. 0.7kg. Fine, in fine dust jacket; photograph has a couple of small indentations to surface. Ted Hughes & Fay Godwin's landscape poems and images, with an original photograph by Godwin. Fay Godwin (1931-2005) was one of the twentieth-century's greatest landscape photographers. She is also known for her literary and artistic portraits, including of Ted Hughes. Hughes was inspired by Godwin's photographs of the Calder Valley and wrote poems to complement the images. The book, published first by Ted and Olwyn Hughes' Rainbow Press and then in this edition by Faber, is a hymn to the lost industrial heritage and landscape of the Calder Valley, the area where Hughes was raised. Included is an original photograph print by Godwin depicting a coastal scene. The photo is inscribed on the rear by Godwin to Yvonne Skargon. As well as being an illustrator, Skargon is credited as the designer of Remains of Elmet. Beaux Books specialises in fine and rare books on art and culture in the 20th and 21st centuries.
