This is a guide book written in 1929 for shooting of partriges, grouse, pheasant, woodcock, snipe, blackgame, capercaillie, ptarmigan, hare, wild geese, ducks, shore birds. The begining chapters deal with the GUn, and gernal shooting hints, clothing & equipment. The book begins with a dedication to the Prince of Wales and ends with an index to First Aid and Shooting accidents. There are tips on how to safely hold a gun and the etiquette of the shoot: "Try not to talk until at least after the first bird is shot and the birds can be scared off by human speech"; how to deal with being placed in shooting position next to who previosuly had a shooting accident; how and when to tip; how and when to bring your own dog. This is a fascinating look at this aspect of British country life. There is even a chapter on cooking your pheasant and grouse with recipes. A heavy book.
