Book
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 159 pages. Octavo (8 1/4" x 5 1/2") bound in original publisher's blue cloth with gilt lettering to spine with gilt facsimile signature to cover. Ah, Wilderness! is a comedy by American playwright Eugene O'Neill that premiered on Broadway at the Guild Theatre on October 2, 1933. It differs from a typical O'Neill play in its happy ending for the central character, and depiction of a happy family in turn of the century America. It is O'Neill's only well-known comedy. The play was successful in its first Broadway production and the touring production that followed. It has since become a staple of community repertory. Condition: Some pencil notations and underlining of text. Edge wear with some rubbing, some staining to back cover else about very good.

Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 238 pages. Octavo (8 1/4" x 5 3/4") bound in original publisher's green cloth with gilt lettering to spine and faux gilt signature to cover with green edge ruled decoration. First edition of this work in three plays. Three plays. Desire Under the Elms is a 1924 play written by Eugene O'Neill. Like Mourning Becomes Electra, Desire Under the Elms signifies an attempt by O'Neill to adapt plot elements and themes of Greek tragedy to a rural New England setting. It was inspired by the myth of Phaedra, Hippolytus, and Theseus. The Hairy Ape is a 1922 expressionist play about a beastly, unthinking laborer known as Yank, the protagonist of the play, as he searches for a sense of belonging in a world controlled by the rich. Welded originally published in 1924. This is one of O'Neill's most overtly autobiographical works, a play based on the love-hate affair between the playwright (Philip Anglim) and his second wife, Agnes Boulton (Ellen Tobie), changed from a novelist to an actress. What appears to be a brief midnight tiff is unconvincingly escalated into a conflict of mock tragic dimension. Condition: Corners bumped, spine dulled and darkened, spine ends rubbed else very good.
