Original cloth with dust-jacket. *This copy has the signed gift inscription 'To Williams friend, Alessdeir MacCaba' from William O'Brien's sister Mary who was also involved in the nationalist struggle and is mentioned in the text.* **Alasdair Mac Cába (Alec McCabe) was a member of the Volunteers, Sinn Féin and the IRB (into which he was sworn by Seán McDermott). A school teacher, who had been dismissed for his political activity, he later founded the Educational Building Society.** Some wear to dust jacket at extremities which has been strengthened by cellotape, otherwise a near fine copy of the first edition free from any library stamps or other markings.
