Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 22 × 14.5cm, 313pp. "The history of British Labour is the history of the rise of the common people, of the long fight for wages, hours and conditions of work, democratic rights and social welfare, and of the growth of mass organisation and the idea of Socialism. The authors have traced the various clearly marked phases of this struggle from its inception nearly two hundred years ago to the time when Labour had finally emerged as a great independent force, millions strong. They have sought to explain the economic and social causes of the changes described, as the movement advanced by continually adapting itself to new conditions and new problems." Condition: The book itself is in strong solid condition, with some dusting to the page edges and a neat previous owner's name to the ffep. The dustwrapper is rather egdeworn, with rubbing to all edges, some grubbying, and a scuff to the rear panel.
