Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 63 pages with black and white illustrations. Perfect-bound catalogue of an exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum from September to October, 1977. Text in English and Hebrew. Usual ex-library markings, with edgewear and many shallow creases, esp. at corners and along the spine. ?I started to collect items [made of feathers, textiles and jewels] already in the 1930s, upon hearing that tombs full of precious items, in the north [of Peru], had been looted systematically. In order to preserve those treasures for Peru, I began buying some of the important items. Later, I continued to collect items made of precious metals or decorated with precious metals. All these are now housed in the Gold of Peru Museum, and are part of the Peruvian national heritage. During the last decade, items of this collection have been shown in Mexico, South and North America, and Europe. The present collection is exhibited for the first time in Israel.? - Miguel Mujica Gallo.
