Blue-green cloth over blue paper-covered boards, upper board titled in black with black illustration of salmon, spine titled in gilt with gilt illustration of salmon. Title-page loose, front hinge tender, cloth stained but a good working copy. A history and natural history of the Atlantic salmon. "He gives not only the early history of the Atlantic salmon in America but he goes back to even earlier times and gives us an account in charming style of what was known of it in Europe in Caesar's days. And then there follow chapters on Anatomy and Physiology of the salmon, written in proper detail and with scientific accuracy." (From the foreword by Barton Warren Evermann). Chapters include:- Early eastern history; Western history; Anatomy and physiology; Disease; Habits; Frivolous and otherwise. Appended at the rear of the book is a good and extensive (fifteen page) bibliography despite the author's preface stating "Some years ago, after my first season on a salmon stream, I searched the book shops for a volume that had in it the varied information I desired concerning Atlantic salmon. As there was no such book available, I decided to write one." .

This is a hardcover book with 139 pages including many photos. The binding is strong with all pages firmly attached. The pages are clean with no soiling, writing, or tears. The copyright page shows 1925 as the published date. This is definitely Not a former library book. The green dust jacket shows a one-inch closed tear on the top of the front DJ flap crease, just a hint of edgewear and light soiling on the back (No Chips). I have placed the DJ in a fresh mylar jacket and this old book looks and feels great! We always ship in a sturdy cardboard box!.
