Front board lettered and decorated in gold with oval photograph of McKinley framed by the flag in red, white and blue. Photograph rubbed. William McKinley, Jr. (1843-1901) was the 25th President of the United States. He was assassinated by an anarchist, Leon Frank Czolgosz, at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York, in 1901. Hardcover in dark green, fine-grained cloth with gilt titles to ribbed spine and gilt facsimile McKinley signature to front, no jacket, red-tinted pages, 8vo. xii + 504pp. B/W plates throughout. VG- to VG. Light rubbing with mild scuffing and one touch of surface loss to overall clean and strongly-colored cloth. Mild rubbing/abrasion to extreme spine ends and tips of corners with no surface loss. Gilt mildly dulled but strong and clear. Binding tight and square. Red-tinted page edges very bright, though shelving soil to upper edges. Light damspstains and rippling along lower margin edges of pages; pages otherwise bright and unmarked, though occasional stress creases from tight binding. Fairly common title in much better than usual condition.
