A musical comedy, set in New York, based on a book by a book by James Montgomery. Irene O'Dare is an immigrant shop assistant who winds up a charity ball; an attendee presents her as the niece of Ireland's Lady O'Dare, and so is suddenly propelled into high society! The musical opened on Broadway in 1919 and ran for 675 performances, which at the time was the record for the longest-running musical in Broadway history ---- and, revived on Broadway in 1923 as well as 1973. Vintage/Voice & Piano.
