Book
Soft Covers. Condition: VG. No Jacket. Map (illustrator). Reprint. First published in 1964 this account of early organised resistance against South Africa's apartheid system, focuses on events in the Transkei where protest against Government policies developed into rebellion in the late 1950s/early '60s. A detailed history of white imposed rule over the native people of South Africa is presented by the author, to background the reasons for dissent. At the time this second edition was published, in 1984, Govan Mbeki (1910-2001) had already served 20 years of a life sentence on Robben Island but, although isolated from his followers he remained, like Mandala, a leader in absence. An interesting and informative study of be the beginning of the end for apartheid. Reprint, 159 pages, including four appendices, map. Pictorial card covers VG with crease across top front corner, light wear spine extremities, stamp of the "NZ Defence Aid Fund For Southern Africa" lower title page, no other markings/inscriptions, text block excellent.
