P. Mayer, and including the1893 preface by Comte de Tocqueville. VG / G. Book is securely bound and except for age-toned pastedowns and endpapers and light stain at bottom edge near tail, free of other blemishes and markings. Cover is bright, with very light soiling, sharp corners, gently bumped joints, headcap and tail, and crisply legible, boldly distinct gilt stamped lettering. Dust Jacket is unclipped and age toned, with mild chipping along the edges and 3'5" x 4.5" section of rear panel dislodged (torn section is laid in for possible future restoration or prevejnt misplacement).
