Hardcover. folding map (illustrator). pp. 118, 120. 12mo. Bound in original full leather. The leather binding is worn: joints are cracked, and the boards hanging by a thread. The map has some early repairs to the reverse, and shows some creasing and age-toning. Some signatures standing proud but no pages (except the front free endpaper) are loose. Contents remarkably clean. Two parts bound in one. The first part of the book, which contains the folding map entitled 'Plan du Voyage de St. Cloud', was published in 1762 as the fourth edition. The second part of the book, which follows immediately after the first part, is entitled 'Voyage et Retour de St. Cloud; par mer et par terre. Premiere Parties. Nouvelle Edition, Augumentee des Annales & Antiquites de S. Cloud', and was published in Paris by Duchesne in 1760. 'Revue, corrigee & augumentee, avec une Carte tres-exacte, dont le Plan a ete leve sur les lieux.'.

Edition revue sur l'édition originale de 1754 publiée chez Duchesne. Tirage à 454 exemplaires, un des 450 sur papier de Hollande, bien complet du plan du voyage de St Cloud. Bon exemplaire, quelques rares rousseurs éparses, un plat décoloré. Neel Louis Baltazar est né vers 1695 à Rouen (Seine-Maritime). Homme de lettres. Destiné à la magistrature, Néel préfère verser dans la poésie. Son nom est resté grâce au succès de son principal ouvrage, Voyage de Saint-Cloud à Paris par mer, dans lequel il se moque d'un Parisien allant pour la première fois à Saint-Cloud (Hauts-de-Seine). Néel disparaît en 1754 à Rouen.Outre ce Voyage de Paris à Saint-Cloud par mer, et retour à Paris par terre (La Haye 1748), Néel a aussi écrit : une Épître au prince de Conti sur ses conquêtes en Italie (1743), une Épître au roi sur sa première campagne en 1744, La prise de Bruxelles (1746) et La prise de Maastricht (1748), qui sont deux poèmes, Histoire du comte de Saxe (Mittau 1752) et Histoire de Louis, duc d'Orléans (1753). Édition illustrée de 12 eaux-fortes en noir gravées de Jules Adeline signées sur la planche et datées de 1877. Un des 255 exemplaires tirés, celui-ci tiré sur vergé.
