First Edition
First edition, sole printing; the scarce memoirs of Bruce Lee's first student, intimately relating Lee's earliest years in America. Jesse Glover was an African-American judoka who first saw Lee perform at Seattle's Seafair festival in 1959. Glover then trained in Gung Fu under Lee until 1963 and spent the following decades developing and teaching his own style, which he called Non-Traditional Gung Fu. Glover (1935-2012) inspired the character Jerome Sprout in Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993). Octavo. Original spiral-bound red wrappers lettered and illustrated in white. Photographic illustrations and line drawings in the text. Typed catalogued slip loosely inserted. Small residue on rear wrapper from removed label, otherwise a fine copy.
