Just a touch of shelf/edge wear to Beige pebble-grain cloth boards with black spine titles - corners sharp. Moderate shelf/edge wear and minor dust soiling to original unclipped DJ - now in mylar. Signed by the Author (in blue ink) underneath his picture on the page preceding the Foreword. Only flaw is an abrasion at the top of the FFEP. 16 chapters and 42 B&W vintage photographs on the last 18 pages. These are the memories of a pioneer and his grandson as told by the grandson. Fascinating local history. Leakey is a city in and the county seat of Real County, Texas, United States. The population was 425 at the 2010 census. Anglo-American settlement of the area began in 1856 when John Leakey, his wife Nancy, and a few others settled near a spring along the banks of the Frio River. In the photo illustrated dust jacket unclipped, with light wear. First printing. The author's grandparents, John and Nancy Leakey, settled near the Frio River in 1856. Florence Fenley of Uvalde helped collect and wrote this history of Texas and North Dakota ranching and Indian fighting. With many photographs by Leakey.
