Gertrude Bell (1868-1926), often called "The Queen of the Desert," was a traveller. a spy, and an archaeologist, who,like T.E. She died in somewhat mysterious circumstances; her letters were edited by her stepmother and published a year after her death, These are Very Good (Plus) copies of a Later Printing (Eighth Impression) of the First American Edition.
