Small 8°., original wrappers, title in white type and illustrations on front wrapper. 144pp. Many black/white ills. of which full-page, sketch-map of the region discussed and a fold. plate with key (illustrating an idealized picture of the Holy Hains von Kounoumon), both loosely inserted, illustrated list of motifs to illustrations of Ghosts, glossary, list of sources(literature & interviews), appendices, table of contents. ["Wegweiser zur V"lkerkunde", Heft 26]. An interesting and well-documented publcation on the Gbato-Senufo tribe, Ivory Coast, supplying information on (:) the tribe itself and her traditional agriculture with innovations, plastic arts, manual crafts, amateurs and professionals, religion and divination, incl. the existence of secret societies, initiation-rites, definitions of the High God, ancestor worship, heresy, leaders and priests, cosmology and perception of after-life, &c. Very good copy. (some minimal chafing to extremities of wrappers).
