Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A near fine to fine copy in a fine slipcase. An unusual book issued in the memory of Hiroshi Kozuma on the first anniversary of his death by his parents. Includes contributions from other persons and acquaintences of Hiroshi who was only 25 years old when he died. The book represents a family trying to come to grips with the loss of their eldest son, who was a graduate of Gakushuin University in Japan and who came to the United States to study at Portland State University. Hiroshi was an active participant in the schools' fencing clubs while studying law and international relations. His parents have established a memorial library at PSU in his memory. The book is bound in navy blue cloth with gold lettering on the spine and in front. There is an inscription in Japanese on the front endpaper and a set of initials on the top corner of the same page. The spine of the book shows just a hint of fading where it was exposed in the slipcase. The slipcase is beige colored cloth over boards with black printing on the spine and in front. A set of initials is also present to the top corner of the slipcase spine. The book is illustrated with a photosection in front as well as some illustrations within the rest of the text. The book presents a glimpse into the life of a young man who died too young and is intended to serve as a testimonial for future generations of his family. 8vo., 255 pages. 0.0 0.0 0.0.
