Die bestehenden Ansätze zur rhetorischen Analyse stammen größtenteils aus dem US-amerikanischen Raum und sind entweder veraltet oder beziehen sich lediglich auf einen Teilbereich der Analyse - meist auf die Textanalyse und hier im Besonderen auf den Einsatz rhetorischer Figuren oder auf die Argumentation.Die wissenschaftliche Inhaltsanalyse erfreut sich zwar immer größerer Beliebtheit, hält aber bislang auch keine Methode bereit, die alle notwendigen Analyse- Bereiche - also beispielsweise auch die non- und paraverbale Kommunikation - zu einer Methode zusammenfügt, mit der sich rhetorische Fähigkeiten im Ganzen analysieren und messen ließen. Diesem Desiderat widmet sich der vorliegende wissenschaftliche Projektbericht. Die Arbeit geht zunächst der Frage nach, welche Methoden und Theorien aus unterschiedlichen Fachbereich bereits zur Verfügung stehen, um rhetorische Fähigkeiten zu messen und zu bewerten. Auf Basis dieser Erkenntnisse werden am Ende der Arbeit Handlungsempfehlungen zur ganzheitlichen Analyse von Rhetorik entwickelt, die sowohl den Redetext, als auch die Argumentation, die Körpersprache, die Gestik und die Mimik, die Stimme, die Präsentationsform und viele weitere Faktoren berücksichtigen. Unter rhetorischer Kommunikationskompetenz wird in diesem Zusammenhang die Fähigkeit verstanden, Sachverhalte in Reden oder öffentlichen Sprechsituationen durch Verwendung sprachlicher Zeichen verständlich, überzeugend und souverän darstellen zu können.1 Problematisch aus Sicht der Wissenschaft ist daran, dass diese Fähigkeiten nicht direkt sichtbar sind, also empirisch durch Beobachtung nicht erschlossen werden können. Insofern benötigt ein Forscher, der Rhetorik messen und bewerten will, gute Analyse- und Interpretationsfähigkeiten. Gleichzeitig besteht die Herausforderung bei der Entwicklung einer Methode zur ganzheitlichen Rhetorikanalyse darin, möglichst alle notwendigen Faktoren mit einzubeziehen, den Forscher aber gleichzeitig nicht zu stark einzuengen.
