A very nice title, with engraved frontispiece portrait of Charles Earl of Dorset, title frontispiece, portrait frontispiece to Persius, and 22 other engraved plates. 12mo, cxi (dedicatory preface by Dryden), Table, 296 pages. In full contemporary calf, somewhat worn, front joint and hinge neatly repaired. Owners' names to endpapers and title page, otherwise very clean and sound. ESTC ref T123512. Dryden translated a number of Juvenal's satires himself, and selected others, including his sons Charles and John, to translate the rest. The Persius satires are all by Dryden, with an introductory letter by Congreve.
