Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Joseph Cellini (illustrator). 1st Edition. Part biography and part novelization, this is the true story of the young girl who bravely tended the lighthouse on Matinicus Rock, Maine in the 1850s. The authors have just fictionalized where research and records have failed to provide sufficient facts. There is a frontispiece drawing that goes uncredited, but may or may not be by the jacket artist, Joseph Cellini. This is a very good copy indeed with just a hint of browning and slight wear at base of spine. The dust jacket (and the book is scarce in the jacket) is price-clipped, slightly grubby on the white panels, and has internally repaired tears to the edges. Presents well behind the acetate.

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. This work is a young reader historical novel. Abbie Burgess was only fourteen when she stepped upon Matinicus Rock that day in 1853, but she was no ordinary girl, for only a person with a special kind of strength could have endured the lonely life of tending lamps in a lighthouse. Light shelfwear; otherwise, this copy is clean and solid. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, RUTH SARGENT, flat signed on the half-title page. Signed by Author(s).
