ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 1960). 1960 1st edition. Small 8vo (115 x 185mm). Pp119. B/w diagrams by Fred [J] Taylor, sketch-map. Binding B. Yellow boards, spine titled in black. Quite foxed & musty, a few wrinkled pages, a good copy of the first edition in used but complete dust-wrapper. The Truim is a tributary of the Spey which runs close to the A9 in Inverness-shire. Hall's mandate from the series editors was to produce a "How to fish" guide to trout fishing in the lesser rivers of the Scottish Highlands. However he went far beyond that with a lyrical history of his long association with this particular stream and a cast-by-cast description of many miles of water. His preferred method was the dry fly and as he fishes upstream, almost from the confluence with the Spey to the distillery at Dalwhinnie, he describes every stone, twist and turn, with tales of trout caught and lost - some of them two- or three-pounders. There are a few diversions to Loch Ericht and other waters, but this is basically an intimate description of this one Highland stream. .

ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 1960). 1960 1st edition. Small 8vo (115 x 185mm). Pp119. B/w diagrams by Fred [J] Taylor, sketch-map. Binding A. Green boards, spine titled in gilt. Various minor faults (end-paper excised, front hinge tender) but a good copy in frayed and possibly clipped dust-wrapper. "We suggest that very much richer rewards are likely to be reaped by those who adopt local tactics and not tactics which the author admits to be the product of holiday angling on one particular Highland stream. The use of the dry fly has its place. but the author's sweeping advocacy of this method. is wholly unwarranted. an interesting and well-written book, but with the wrong title." (Anglers' Annual 1961). Nevertheless, a minor classic by a dry-fly fisherman on a Scottish stream. The illustrator, Fred Taylor, is of course angling author Fred J. Taylor, who wrote one of the companion volumes in the same series, How To Fish The Upper Great Ouse. .
