Ils ouvrent des succursales de leur agence Monterrey (Mexique), Madrid et Biarritz, o ils signent, en 1904 et 1907, deux opulentes villas, Oc ana et Natacha, qui allient l'Art nouveau et le r gionalisme. En 1909, Henri Sauvage invente le syst me de construction gradins, dont il d pose le brevet en 1912, au moment o il r alise le c l bre immeuble rev tu de carrelage " m tro " du 26, rue Vavin Paris. Peu apr s, il entame les tudes de l'immeuble HBM du 13, rue des Amiraux, achev en 1930. Il illustre les possibilit s de ses immeubles gradins par des projets de rues enti res et de m gastructures pyramidales, tels le Giant Hotel et l'immeuble Metropolis, imagin s en 1927 et 1928. L'Exposition des arts d coratifs de 1925 consacre le changement de mani re qu'Henri Sauvage avait esquiss d s 1913 avec l'immeuble Majorelle, au 124-126, rue de Provence Paris. Parmi les luxueux immeubles qu'il construit dans la capitale au cours des ann es vingt, le Studio-building, difi en 1927 au 65, rue La Fontaine, d montre par son audacieuse polychromie l'extraordinaire capacit de renouvellement de l'architecte, qui conjugue magistralement, avec la construction des nouveaux magasins de la Samaritaine entre 1925 et 1930, l'esth tique Art d co et les performances techniques. la m me poque, il oriente ses recherches vers des proc d s de construction rapide, d pose de nombreux brevets, r alise des prototypes de maisons en tubes d'amiante-ciment. En 1931, un an avant sa disparition, il difie en trois mois les grands magasins Decr Nantes, aux fa ades transparentes. Avec cette derni re ?uvre, Henri Sauvage s'affirme comme l'un des tr s rares architectes avoir parcouru, avec une rigueur et un talent jamais d mentis, l'arc cr atif qui va de l'Art nouveau au Style international. 2590 g.
