The Author's personal extensive collection comprising books, photographs, plans and correspondence relating to the construction and running of the Port of Preston and the shipping involved in it. Too many items to list individually but some of the many highlights include ;- Signed and specially bound copies of his own two books;- his own copy of Barron's "History of the Ribble Navigation" 1938 ;- 16 Port Authority volumes of "Borough of Preston Proceedings" 1883 to 1901 - complete with folding plans and much on the docks (spines worn) ;- an amazing collection of photographs in six albums and loose (original and copies) all depicting life and shipping on the Port of Preston and those involved in creating and running it. All labelled by Dakres and several used in his book "The Last Tide". ;- a particular highlight being 3 large original panoramic views of the Dock in its early days, aswell as two enlarged mounted views of the Docks in the 1960's. In addition there are glass slide views showing the digging out of the Dock basin and Original Bills of Sale (1928 & 1936) for ships purchased by the Port Authority and many Port of Preston, Ribble Navigation and Preston Corporation journals , reports and correspondence. Also included is a Rare original "Chart of the Ribble from the Admiralty Survey by Captain Belcher R.N. with a Section of the River from the North Union Railway Bridge to the Striped Buoy off Lytham showing the Improvement of the Navigation proposed by Robert Stevenson and Son Civil Engineers, Edinburgh. 1837." Etc., etc.In addition a particular highlight is Dakres' Framed Original Photographic Print of The Launch of S.W. "Walter Watts" in 1922. Built by The Lytham Shipbuilding and Engineering Company Co.
