Signed, numbered luxury edition of the Hungarian painter, József Rippl-Rónai's memoir who a member of the Nabis group. With original drawings, an autograph letter and other memorabilia. The present copy of Rippl-Rónai's memoirs includes the following items: An original, early drawing by Rippl-Rónai of two boys sitting on a bench, signed and dated (Rippl '89 or '84) in the lower right. The names of the boys "Horváth Jóska" and "Czigli Ferencz" are indicated below the figures in Rippl-Rónai's hand. An original drawing of the portrait of a man on the recto of the same folded sheet as the above-mentioned drawing of the boys. Rippl-Rónai's autograph letter to his friend, Erdélyi, sent from Kaposvár, Hungary in the early1900s, in which he writes about his four landscape paintings and enquires about Erdélyi's exhibition. A sheet of green paper with a handwritten note "in the memory of the evening of August 5, 1907" signed and dated in Fiume by Ödön Rippl-Rónai, the younger brother and the earliest art collector of Rippl-Rónai who worked in Fiume as an officer of the Hungarian State Railways in 1903-1909. Two cut-out articles from the November 26, 1927 issues of Hungarian newspapers, reporting on Rippl-Rónai's death. Another cut-out article, published on the centenary of Rippl-Rónai's birth. Richly illustrated, with two facsimile letters by the French sculptor and painter, Aristide Maillol sent to Rippl-Rónai. József Rippl-Rónai (1861-1927) was the first Hungarian painter to introduce modern art movements in Hungary. He studied painting in Munich and Paris, where he became associated with the Nabis group. He is known as the illustrator, together with his friend the Scottish James Pitcairn-Knowles, Georges Rodenbach's book "Les Vierges. Les Tombeaux." (Paris, 1895). . The present book includes the following memorabilia: a folded sheet of grey paper with original drawings on both sides (one signed and dated by Rippl-Rónai) and a sheet of paper with a handwritten note by Ödön Rippl-Rónai, both mounted on the recto of the rear flyleaf; Rippl-Rónai's one-page holograph letter in black ink on blue paper, mounted on the front pastedown; two cut-out articles about Rippl-Rónai (one article in three parts) mounted on a folded sheet of paper which is inserted between the rear flyleaf and pastedown; one additional cut-out article.
