First Edition
First edition. Octavo. Three volumes: pp [iv], 240; [ii], 222; [ii], 232. Original mustard cloth decorated in gilt and black. The identity of the author is a mystery and there seems to be no other title published under this pseudonym. She does, however, appear to have translated at least two novels from the Italian. The book was dedicated to W.E. Gladstone who was Prime Minister at the time. According to his diaries he did make the effort to read the book on publication. In the entry for 4th March 1881 one reads, ''Ireland's True Daughter, hardly readable from slightness''.Some light foxing here and there. Covers slightly dusty and marked. Small patch of abrasion to front cover of second volume. A very good set indeed. Very scarce.
