A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1954, this hardcover 8vo has a red cloth-wrapped spine with a gilt design to front/lettering to spine, with black paper over the remaining boards From a single sportsman's library (who pasted a photo of his climbing gear inside front cover & wrote his identifying info in blue pen to ffep), it is in VG+ condition: besides the aforementioned ownership markings, it is very clean & bright, binding strong & straight, pages moderately tanned, heaviest around edges. Minor rubbing to extremities & , light soil spots to top outside edges. The unclipped DJ (with orig. $6.00 price intact) is only Good: bright & colorful, but marred by insect damage in the form of small holes/tracks, light soil; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free!
