Book
Hardcover. Condition: Good. Limited Edition. 1980, Limited Edition. Scarce, but copy number deleted for unknown reason. Volume 2 of a 6-volume set of books compiled and published to celebrate the cycling art of George Moore (d.1914). This volume covers the year 1886-1887 and contains a selection of Moore's cartoons and illustrations from 'Bicycling News' magazine from that year. Moore had a long association with 'Bicycling News', and the later magazine 'Cycling'. He was a well known, respected cyclist and cycling artist alongside the redoubtable Frank Patterson and others such as Percy Kemp. Moore was a proponent of the woodcut and lithograph before advances in printing allowed the reproduction of pen and ink drawings. 103 pages printed on thick, matt, cream paper and bound in cream boards. Gold, gilt titles to spine boards. B. & W. illustrations to r.h.s of pages. Rubs & bumps to board edges and 'blotches' are visible through the boards as per accompanying photographs. Front & rear end papers are marked (possible water damage). However, contents are very clean & tidy and the volume is tightly bound - deemed to be in overall 'Good' condition. Without dust-jacket. [A heavy book to post, but well within Royal Mail's 2kg small parcel limit for UK destinations. Additional postage will be requested for international destinations]. Volumes 1, 3, 4 and 5 are also available - see listings no. 21889, 240209, 240208, 240206 respectively. A reduction will be applied when more than one volume is purchased - please contact us via ABE for information.
