    Condition: Very Good. Archive concerning research material and letters from contributors for 'The M.G. Log'. First published in 1993 by Souvenir Press. Editorial consultant: Jean Cook. American edition published by Greenwich Editions in 1997. Contributors were Peter Haining (Octagonal Fever), Jean Cook (Cecil Kimber's daughter), Cyril Mellor (Vintage MG's), Barry Foster (Racer of Classic MG's), David Saunders (The Immortal 'T' type MG), Geoff Shirt (MGB - World's Most Popular Sports Car), Anna Guerrier (The MG Fast Ladies) and Mike Allison (Restoring MG's). A couple of pages of Haining's handwritten notes. Five typescripts of different versions varying in length (one or two with duplicated pages) of Haining's piece, with corrections. Two typescripts (one incomplete) of Jean Cook's piece on her father Cecil Kimber, with corrections, plus a further heavily corrected paragraph about Cecil Kimber. Letters dating from 1992 include typed signed letters and in some cases a photocopy of the letter has been attached and about 15 photocopies of Haining's letters introducing himself and outlining the content of the book and what is required. Typed signed letters to Haining from Anna Guerrier, racing driver, Jean Cook, daughter of Cecil Kimber, the inventor of the first M.G. (4 letters, full of assistance), Ernest Hecht at Souvenir Press confirming Haining's contract, Philip Jennings, historian of the Early MG Society, Cyril Mellor of 14/40 fame, Mike Allison, M.G. specialist, Don Hayter, Bob Patterick, an old friend who drove MGs, and Geoff Shirt, his letter includes his photocopied article on the 5th Kimber Birthday Run. Jennings and Hayter declined to contribute to the book. Other material includes a returned cheque for a back issue of Classic Cars not available and a page from Thoroughbred & Classic Cars. Letters dating from 1993 include two lengthy handwritten letters to Haining from David Saunders, editor of the T Register Yearbook for the MG Car Club with Haining's photocopied replies and his photocopied introductory letter (dated December 1992). Letters from 1994 include some of Haining's handwritten notes, stapled photocopies of Haining's letters to some of the contributors and others concerning the return of photographs etc., together with typed signed letters from Jean Cook (handwritten postscript and earlier list of photographs), Anna Guerrier (2 letters), Ron Cover, Geoff Shirt and Cyril Mellor. No response from Barry Foster included. Other material includes photocopies of articles, photocopied excerpts from publications, cuttings from magazines and newspapers and other items relating to cars. Very good. Very good.
