Difficult to date: copyright page reads 1881, by another publisher accompanied by statement "Published by arrangement with owners of copyright"--gift inscription on front end page reads "Christmas 1918;" stamped image on front board in red and black on beige shows many in early 20th c. suit reading to boy in sailor suit standing next to arm chair, with smaller child seated on floor in short dress. Lamp on table is clearly Prairie Style, in vogue between 1900 and 1915. 193 p., clean and unmarked except for gift inscription on front end page and penciled price or code on back paste down. Some smudges on end pages but not within. Charming b&w ill.; binding firm; faintly smudged boards bumped on corners, light rubbed on edges.

The book is further enhanced by seven black and white illustrations. The Near Fine condition book is in a Very Good+ condition dust jacket that has small closed tears at top of the jacket back.
