Dopo gli studi dedicatigli da Mina Gregori negli anni sessanta del Novecento, la sua figura è diventata oggetto di interessi sempre crescenti, che hanno fatto luce su aspetti sconosciuti o poco noti della sua attività. Grazie a nomi del calibro di Carlo del Bravo, Piero Bigongiari o Roberto Contini, la personalità dell'artista si è delineata con sempre maggiore chiarezza, fino a giungere nel 1996 alla monografia curata dallo stesso Sandro Bellesi, punto di riferimento ormai imprescindibile per lo studio del Dandini. Quel ricco catalogo, comprensivo di oltre centoventi dipinti, si è oggi ulteriormente arricchito, dopo più di dieci anni, di numerose acquisizioni.
