Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 1st Edition. 312 pages of excellent text, filled with great photos and illustrations. Dust jacket is not price-clipped. The authors discovered a strange link between Carroll and their forebear, Prime Minister Gladstone. It led them to re-examine Carroll's diaries and search out many little-known photographic portraits of celebrities he recorded meeting such as Huxley, Tennyson, and Ruskin. They found that Carroll had laced his "Alice" stories with clues to his views on the "great and the good" Victorian England. A very clean copy with no alien markings of any kind.

"Indexed and with its own extensive bibliography, the 'Companion' is designed to provide access to Alice in all her disguises - in film, on the stage, as seen by different illustrators and translators, and as interpreted in different countries. It is a book to be dipped into and a book to be read through. From it emerges a vivid picture of an enigmatic, secretive and intensely clever Carroll." Fine condition. Mint.
