First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. Roma 1794 (Parma, co' tipi bodoniani, 1795). Full contemporary calf gilt. Spine rubbed, but overall a superb copy. One of only a small number of illustrated books from the Bodoni Press, printed on fine paper and with splendid plates, this collection of allegorical poetry on the theme of love is every bit as beautiful as one might imagine. The work exists in several states; in our copy the engraved plates (by Francesco Rosaspina after José Teixeira Barretoare) are colored with black and tan wash.
