With Best Wishes from Richard Lancelyn Green". John Ruyle's small ownership ticket "ex Libris John Ruyle" is on the inner front cover, with his pencil note "7-85", his date of aquisition. Light wear and small creases; a very good copy. Collects 33 tales, 10 of them newly identified as the work of Conan Doyle. The previous owner, John Ruyle, was an avid Sherlockian who collected Doyle & also wrote dozens of Sherlockian parodies and pastiches, which he hand-printed & published them under his own imprints. Richard Lancelyn Green, generally considered the world's foremost scholar on Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes, amassed the world's largest collection private of Doyleiana; he died in mysterious & curious circumstances in 2004, shortly after attempting to halt the sale of papers from the Conan Doyle estate which were being auctioned by Christie's.
