Born in the Netherlands, he immigrated to Muskegon, MI and then moved to Chicago in 1925 where his popularity as an artist peaked in the late 1930's. Contains 64 large color & 45 small b&w & color illustrations of his paintings as well as thoughtful essays on his life and work. Original white publishers paper covers with gold spine lettering and color illustration on the front wrapper. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. The covers are in nice condtion with no creases, tears or chips. The edition is not stated; probably a First Edition. ; Color & B&W Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 115 pages.
