Warren and Frank Pearson of early papers in their groundbreaking research on the history of prices. Warren and Pearson were Cornell University agriculture economists who developed innovative methods for studying the history of prices. They were also major figures in their primary field. Warren was an economic advisor to Franklin D. Roosevelt as both Governor of New York and President. In addition to weighing in on transformative New Deal agricultural polices, Warren influenced Roosevelt's decision to remove the U.S. from the gold standard. This is a presentation copy to C.E. Ladd, head of the Cornell Agricultural Experiment Station and includes a signed cover letter from Pearson and along with the signatures of both Pearson and Warren on the front endpaper. The volume includess two papers by Warren and Pearson: "Wholesale Prices for the United States for 135 Years, 1797 to 1932" and "Physical Volume of Production." In addition, the volume includes a paper by Herman M. Stoker "Wholesale Prices at New York City 1720 to 1800." Inscribed by George F. Warren and Frank A. Pearson to C.E. Ladd on the front endpaper. Also includes a signed cover letter from Pearson to Ladd. Green cloth, 294 pages. Has fading on the spine with tanning a the edges of the covers and on the page edges. Signed by Author(s).

Light soiling to DJ with faint cloud outline on lower front; not affecting book. An incredibly uncommon title in original DJ by George F. Warren, the man responsible for FDR moving off the gold standard in 1933; the same year George F. Warren published this landmark title that went through multiple printings. Rare in DJ; VG+/VG.
