Internally the pages are generally very clean with just the occasional spot of foxing, profusely illustrated. A good reference set. Roodscreens and roodlofts are decorative partitions found between the chancel and the nave of the church.nbsp; book.

Condition: Used - Good. 1909. 2 Volumes. Purple cloth with gilt edging and lettering, quarto, xiii (x) and 448 pp, profusely illustrated. Boards are scuffed with numerous stains (some may be caused by water); edgewear, including some fraying. Boards are darkly sunned with some staining. Some toning and a few water stains to pages, with Volume 1 showing a bit of cracking down the center of the binding. Text and illustrations complete, and binding holding well. Good.

Bligh Bond beside the notoriety for his automatic writing at Glastonbury he was a noted Archeologist who brought many Glastonbury revelations to light. Here are his Medieval Church Rood_Screens in Devon and Celtic Cornwall. His friend Father Francis sculptured the same Medieval architecture in the Church on the Mount in Woodstock New York. The brightly painted Rood Screens could be seen transporting a member to Medieval Glastonbury with a view and a the scent of Holy Frankincense and Myrrh. The William Morris inspired town at Byrdcliffe and Church bringing Artists and poets and friends of the progressive Priest and friend of Bligh Bond such as Bob and his equally inspired Sara Dylan. Roodscreens and roodlofts are decorative partitions found between the chancel and the nave of a church. They are typical features of late medieval religious architecture. Bond and Camm document this architectural screenwork, focusing on different regions, such as Cornwall and Devon.With 131 plates and 130 further pages containing illustrations. Collated complete. With bookplates to front paste down of both volumes. Including frontispieces of examples of roodscreens at Saint David's Cathedral and Ashton Church in Devon. In publisher's original cloth binding.
