Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Cover illustration of Zane Grey's Western Magazine by Alden S. McWilliams (illustrator). Three digest-size (5-1/2 X 7-3/4 inch) softcover Western novels, in very-good-minus condition with corner creases and a modest amount of rub. (The spine of "Prairie Fire" is also considerably rolled.) These basically look like small, 5-1/2 X 7-1/2-inch magazines with color covers. All three were originally priced at 25 cents (each.) "Smoky Road" exhibits a vertical crease to front wrap about an inch from the spine. Rub/wear to back wrap has removed parts of four words, there. 124 pp. followed by a three-page "teaser" for Frank C. Robertson's "Six-Gun Law in Wrango." "Prairie Fire" is an undated, abridged reprint of a novel originally published in hardcover by Doubleday, Doran in 1940. Our third offering is the November, 1948 issue of Zane Grey's Western Magazine, Vol. 2 No. 9, published by Dell, also containing several Western short stories by Raymond S. Spears and others. The Zane Grey cover illustration is by Alden S. McWilliams, while the covers of "Smoky Road" and "Prairie Fire" are not credited. Pages of these "pulp magazines" are moderately age toned but are still flexible and easily read. Three digest-sized Westerns from the same era ("Smoky Road" is actually 1949) combined into a single lot to consolidate shipping charge, the group of three now reduced from $28. Total 124, 128 and 192 pp, respectively.
