Traduit de l'allemand par Jacqueline Verdeaux. Bel exemplaire. Quelques marques à l'encre rouge, par un lecteur averti, en marge d'une poignée de feuillets, indiquant des passages saillants de l'introduction, dos légèrement jauni. Après avoir obtenu en 1948 sa licence de philosophie, Michel Foucault étudie la psychologie, suivant les cours de Daniel Lagache qui venait de créer la première licence de psychologie à La Sorbonne. Il obtiendra son diplôme de psychologie pathologique en 1952. Il fait entretemps la connaissance de Ludwig Binswanger par l'entremise d'une amie de sa mère. L'analyse existentielle de ce psychiatre original lui permet, dira-t-il plus tard, "de mieux comprendre l'oppression du savoir psychiatrique académique". Il entreprend la traduction de Le Rêve et l'existence dès 1952. L'ouvrage sera publié en 1954, peu de temps après la publication de son premier livre, Maladie mentale et personnalité (Paris, Presses universitaires de France, coll. Initiation philosophique), avec une introduction de sa main occupant les deux tiers du volume. Livre épuisé.
